Random Childhood Memory
Every day for roll call, instead of saying “here” we would say “hot” or “cold” to specify whether we were having a school provided “hot” lunch or if we’d brought our own “cold” lunch from home. I think i may have said “cold” two or three times the entire time i was in elemetary school. The lady that scanned our barcodes was named Rhonda Sheppard and every day for the 5 seconds that i’d see her we’d talk Wichita State basketball, and then she’d remind me how many lunches i had left before i needed to give the school more lunch money.
I was always a “cold” lunch kid, except for the days the school served chicken nuggets with mashed potatoes and gravy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were just like KFC’s, and that made them it seem way cool.
